MLBL Travel Spring AAU Program

SLB offers a Spring AAU program as part of the Off-Season Travel Program.  Teams will be formed to participate in one to two DC Metro area tournaments per month for March, April, and May.  Below is a sample Tournament schedule (individual teams will determine specific schedules based on player and coach availability):

Mid-March Big Shots DC                                                               Late-March Big Shots DC

Mid-April Loudoun Invitation                                                     Late-April Catoctin Challenge

Early-May Big Shots Univ Maryland                                          Mid-May Virginia Invitational (PVI)

Note:  All 6 tournaments are not a requirement.

Tryouts for the Spring will be announced by mid-January.  Tryouts for each level will be conducted in February, and the teams will be finalized by early-March.  Placement on the winter team does not guarantee a spot in the off-season program(s).

Teams will practice an average of 1-2 nights per week to prepare for the tournament. A base registration fee (~$150) for spring will include, county rec fees, school use, and insurance.  Base spring fees will be due by March 15 once the teams are announced.

Approximate spring tournament registration fees will vary from $100-$500 per player above the base registration fee.  Pre-registration and coaches recruiting for the spring program will occur in January.

Spring and Summer coaches will be recruited and must meet the same requirements outlined in section four.  Coaches will not be compensated, and will have to pay for own travel.

Team Evolution Spring Program

MLBL has partnered with Evolution Basketball to provide a Spring recreational program for kids in grades 4-8 (based on the current school year)!  The Team Evolution Program will run from late-March through late-May, and offers an 8-game schedule, with practices at a local elementary school in the South Riding area!  Games will be held Sundays at nearby Rock Ridge High School in Ashburn.

Visit Team Evolution's page for more information and to register!

Travel Summer Program

SLB offers a Summer AAU program as part of the Off-Season Travel Program.  Rising 4th through Rising 9th grade teams will be formed to compete in the summer league.  In most cases, the spring teams will stay together for summer season.  Teams needing additional players may hold supplemental tryouts by invitation only for summer league teams.  In some cases, additional summer teams may be formed if there is interest.  Games will be held weeknights (Mondays – Thursdays) for approximately 6-8 weeks.  No regularly scheduled practices will take place during the summer; practices will be assigned as space permits in the gyms around the game schedule.

Coaches may organize training sessions with the league trainers during the summer program as well.  Teams will meet a maximum of three times per week (practices and games). For summer league teams, SLB will rostering up to 15 players may occur to accounting for summer conflicts.  Summer fees will be collected once the teams are finalized, and the summer travel fees will be due by June 15.  Players who commit to the summer program will be charge the full fee; we cannot pro-rate the fees based on missed time due to vacations, etc.  Summer travel fees range from $150 - $300.
