2nd Grade Developmental Division

Program Overview

The 2nd Grade developmental program consists of a combination of four instructor-led player clinic sessions and a minimum of 8 scrimmage games - a combination of 3v3 half court and 5v5 full court coach-officiated scrimmage games.  No scores or standings are kept, and the goal is to build skills and introduce the kids to the game of basketball in a fun environment!

Player Clinic Sessions

Player clinics are run by a professional trainier hired by the league.  The clinics sessions are designed to provide a foundation for each player to begin learning the game of basketball.  There will be two player clinics to kick off the season; and two additional sessions at the beginning of January and February.  Coaches are encouraged to assist the trainers during these clinic sessions.

Team Formation

Teams are formed based on the elementary school and/or neighborhood that they attend.  Players are assigned to teams by the commissioner at the beginning of the season.

Season and Schedule

Season runs mid-November through mid-March.  Player Clinics are scheduled for the first  Saturday of the season (mid-November), and each of the first Saturdays in December, January and February.  Scrimmage games are scheduled on Saturdays from December through March.  Occasional weeknight scrimmages may be scheduled due to inclement weather.  Team practices are 1 night per week, 50 minutes per session.  The scheduled practice nights are based on the coach's availability.  Click here for the Scheduling Site.

Volunteer Coaches

Volunteer coaches are needed to coach teams!  Volunteer coaches get the benefit of having practices scheduled on evenings that work within their schedule.  For more information on how to volunteer, visit our Coaches Volunteer page.
